We have lived in Neptune Beach since 2000. Our first few years here we rented a house. During our first trip to City Hall we had learned of the beautification project and wanted to contribute so we purchased a brick.
Our children were attending Neptune Beach elementary and we could not have been happier with the teachers and staff. It was at the school’s Fall Festival we experienced the sense of community that only a small town can provide. This became even more evident during the holiday season when Santa drove down our street and we saw our children’s faces light up with awe. This was the place we wanted to call home.
So for the next two years we continued to rent while building our nest egg. We watched the housing market and enjoyed reading the Cast A Line newsletter. Once we felt ready, we started driving around looking at homes on the weekends. At first the children were very excited, but as expected, after almost two years of this routine we were threatened with mutiny.
In the winter of 2003 we walked into a house and fell in love. We knew we had found the home where we wanted to watch our children grow up. This was the place we could see ourselves grow old together. Less than a month later we closed on our house and moved our family into our new home a few days before Christmas.
